Maparaju means “Derty Mountain”. Considered one of the easiest mountains to climb in the Cordillera Blanca, it belongs to the Clinchey massif. It is located at the head of the Cayesh Gorge. The Maparaju is a perfect way to acclimatize before climbing other peaks of the same area. The ascent to this peak is considered mild-difficult despite being classified as easy. Mountaineers advise that hikers must be very careful in the rocky part before the glacier, and to get to the glacier, hikers have to pass a fissure with great caution.
Program:
  • Day 01: Huaraz – Llupa – Pitec – Base Camp of Maparaju (4250m)
From Huaraz we will drive to the entrance of the gorge Quilcayhuanca, where we will start our trail in a wide valley, until we reach Cayesh, before going south and reaching 4250m. There, we will set up camp. Approx. 5 to 6 hours.
  • Day 02: Base Camp Maparaju – Summit (5326) – Base Camp

  • Day 03: Base Camp (4250m) – Huaraz
